The Best Juicers for 2024

We juiced just about everything, from apples to leafy greens, to see which models stood out the most. Our comprehensive review combines in-depth research and objective testing with real-world experience to find the perfect juicer for your kitchen.

Our favorite masticating juicer is the Ninja Never Clog Cold Press. This juicer excels in making high-quality juice, especially when leafy greens are involved. Plus, it is a breeze to clean. The Breville Juice Fountain Plus is the best centrifugal juicer in the lineup. It tackles hard produce with ease, and made some of the best juice that we have ever tasted.

If you are after orange juice, a citrus juicers might be all that you need. Luckily, we have put those to the test to see which are the best. More of a smoothie person? We have also extensively tested blenders and portable blenders.

Editor's Note: We updated our juicer review on November 15, 2024, to include the NutriBullet Juicer Pro, Magic Bullet Mini, and Ninja Never Clog Cold Press.

Our favorite horizontal masticating juicer is, hands-down, the Ninja Never Clog Cold Press. This appliance is second-to-none for juicing leafy greens — even problematic produce that is typically more difficult to juice, such as spinach and wheatgrass. The wheatgrass yield was unmatched and quite tasty, too.

In fact, our testers regularly described the juice from this machine as “delightful, velvety, and absolutely delicious.” It ranked top for juice quality, and we appreciated not only the flavor and mouthfeel, but the overall efficiency. This machine doesn't waste produce and we noted that there was very little pulp with most of the juices. It's also quite easy to assemble and we found it cleaned up well. There are a lot of parts, but most of them rinse easily and they're all dishwasher safe.

That said, when it comes to juicing hard produce, the Ninja Never Clog is not an all-star. Many slow juicers struggle with this, and this masticating was no exception. On average, this model tends to produce significantly less juice, especially with root vegetables like beets. But it actually did quite well with sweet potatoes, which had a high-yield and good texture. Still, this is a great model for most users, especially anyone looking to juice wheatgrass and create delicious blends. However, if you're seeking a model that excels with hard produce, check out the Breville Juice Fountain Plus.

REASONS TO BUY
Conveniently wide feeding chute
Very easy to clean
Plentiful hard produce yield
Two juice speed settings
Affordable
REASONS TO AVOID
Poor leafy greens performance

The Breville Juice Fountain Plus has an extra-wide feeding chute, a powerful motor, and an efficient shredder and strainer. These attributes work together to help shed the prep time, eliminating the need to finely chop your fruit and veggies before juicing. Not only is the Fountain Plus easy to use, but with most parts being dishwasher safe, it's easy to clean, too.

This versatile centrifugal juicer has no issue with hard produce like carrots, beets, and sweet potatoes. It also makes some of the tastiest apple juice we've had the pleasure of drinking and above-average cucumber juice, which is no small feat. On top of all that, the Fountain Plus offers two juicing speeds for a versatile experience.

The Fountain Plus produces some incredible juices, but not all are created equal. Sadly, the celery and orange juice were below average. The orange juice has a nice consistency, but the taste of the pith shines through, making it quite bitter. Furthermore, this model is not meant for leafy greens. One of our favorites for leafy greens is the Kuvings Whole Slow C7000S, but it will cost you. Generally, masticating juicers work much better for greens than centrifugal models, which spin them around and mush them into a slimy mess. The Fountain Plus also tends to leak if the top is not sufficiently sealed and lacks a spout cap, so while the appliance itself is easy to clean, it occasionally creates a mess. If you are in the market for a top-tier centrifugal juicer that won't break the bank, the Fountain Plus won't disappoint.

Do you have sticker shock from the price tags attached to some of the top models in this review? The Hamilton Beach Big Mouth retails for a fraction of the price of many other products yet can still produce above-average juices. Across our entire series of tests, this price point model delivered impressive results. It yields an average amount of juice from both soft and hard produce and is even capable of effectively juicing leafy greens — an uncommon feat for most centrifugal models. Best of all, this juicer makes reasonably tasty juice cocktails and is quite easy to clean.

Credit: Jenna Ammerman

Though it may not sport the sleek stainless steel build you get with other top models, the Big Mouth is a durable juicer likely to stand up to the rigors of everyday use. As a centrifugal juicer, some pulp will wind up entering your drink, so juices tend to separate quickly. As such, we recommend enjoying the juice fresh rather than storing it for later. Given the price point, this juicer produces high-quality juice despite not offering the best yield. If you're searching for a juicer on a tight budget, the Big Mouth is the ideal choice — but for those who can spend a little more, the Premium version is well worth the small additional expense.

The NutriBullet Juicer Pro is a high-performing centrifugal juicer that comes with a bunch of awesome accessories. Seriously, with a cleaning brush, two glass travel bottles, freezer trays, and more, you'll never have to worry about getting something extra for your juicer. It also creates a great quality juice with a smooth and refreshing mouthfeel.

This machine handled soft produce (think apples and oranges) like a boss. It had great juice yields and the overall quality was great, with smooth consistency plus minimal foam or pulp. It also did decent with hard produce like carrots and sweet potatoes. It happened to have some of the highest sweet potato juice yield we've seen, and it wasn't too chalky either. All this to say, we love this unit for making juice blends.

The Nutribullet Pro scored highly in functionality and we particularly liked the way the catch cup is integrated into the design.

So what's the catch? Well, the Juicer Pro does not do well with greens, especially wheatgrass. During testing, we actually could not get any wheatgrass juice yield no matter how hard we tried. Between its size and centrifugal design, it's just not the best option for greens. If that's what you're after, you should take a look at the Ninja Never Clog Cold Press which had some of the highest greens yields we've ever seen. But if you're looking for a high quality machine that can handle soft and hard produce with aplomb, you wont' be disappointed here.

The Kuvings Whole Slow C7000S is an amazing masticating juicer that excels in rendering liquids from notoriously difficult ingredients such as kale, wheatgrass, and spinach. Leafy greens require low RPMs and a high-quality masticator to render a large volume of quality juice, and the Kuvings hits the nail on the head in this regard. This juicer is fairly easy to clean and set up — two statements that can't be said for much of the competition.

Unfortunately, the Kuvings struggled more with some firmer produce — specifically beets. Our only other concerns are that it includes many parts, making setup somewhat frustrating, and it's one of the most expensive contenders we reviewed. And yet, if you desire high-quality juice, we feel the Kuvings is worth the investment. We also like the Breville Juice Fountain Elite for a slightly less expensive model that produces great juice and is easy to clean. It's also better at tackling hard produce than the Kuvings.

The Magic Bullet Mini is an incredibly small juicer that really packs a punch. It's very affordable as far juicers go and impressed us during testing. It produced a good juice quality, that our testers noticed was smooth after straining off pulp and the excessive foam build up.

It did very well with soft produce, especially cucumbers and oranges. We were happy to see that the seeds and pulp did not cause any sort of issue with the Mini. And our testers noted that the creamy juice from the orange was truly exceptional and on par with that of more expensive and fancier juicers. It also held its own with the hard produce test and even earned the top score for sweet potatoes, with an incredible yield and great texture.

The Magic Bullet Mini doesn't take up a lot of counter space, but can handle most juicing jobs.
Credit: Natalie Kafader

All that aside, it's not a perfect juicer by any means. We did find it messier thn other options. Both in that it presented cleaning challenges and that it was prone to splattering, which can make a big mess when you're juicing something like a bright red beet. The Magic Bullet Mini also did poorly in the leafy greens test. It had a lackluster wheatgrass yield and poor taste and output for spinach and kale. If budget and size is of little concern and you want a leafy green workhorse, you should consider the Kuvings Whole Slow C7000S.

How We Test Juicers

Since 2016, we've researched over 30 of the best juicers on the market to test side-by-side. Our kitchen experts examined today's top models for this update. Many of these tests require us to use these juicers in our kitchens, providing real-world experience that helps us relate on a personal level. An extended testing period allows us significant time to get acquainted with each product — our reviewers make dozens of drinks with every model, processing lots of produce to better understand the pros and cons of each product. The highest weighted metric is juice quality (25% of the total), broken down into 16 individual tests for three different juice product blends. Our juicing test products include more than 13 different commonly juiced fruits and vegetables across metrics!

We test juicers based on several categories, including quality, output, and ease of cleaning.

We rated these products across five different metrics:
  • Overall Juice Quality tests (25% of total weighted score)
  • Soft Produce Juicing tests (20% weighting)
  • Hard Produce Juicing tests (20% weighting)
  • Leafy Greens Juicing tests (20% weighting)
  • Cleaning tests (15% weighting)

Why Trust GearLab

Before getting down to the job of juicing, our team performs its due diligence of market research, spending dozens of combined hours investigating new technologies and comparing and contrasting the most popular products available. To ensure full objectivity, we purchase all products we test at retail cost. Our team of experts then designed numerically-based tests, so we can rank these products relative to one another. We conduct close to 60 different tests and assessments to evaluate the performance of every model and update the review whenever a promising new product is released. These components make up the overall score and are weighted based on how they influence the juicing experience.

Analysis and Test Results

We created robust metrics to compare these products objectively. While all the metrics are related, they are designed to be mutually exclusive better to examine each product's particular strengths and weaknesses, so you can make an informed buying decision for your needs and budget.

Full-Size or Citrus-Only?

If you are mainly interested in juicing limes, lemons, grapefruits, or oranges, you may want to consider a top-rated citrus juicer rather than a full-size masticating or centrifugal model. Although a citrus-only model will have fewer features than a full-size kitchen appliance, these little appliances cost significantly less and will occupy a fraction of your precious countertop space.

Value

Juicers are a specialty item, and compared to other kitchen appliances, we find that the top-performing products in this category generally tend to run on the pricey side. Many of the top models available to most home consumers can cost hundreds of dollars — and that's not even considering professional-grade options.

However, if you are shopping for a better deal, then the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth is the best value option, as is the Magic Bullet Mini. Even though these models struggle with some of the more difficult juicing tasks, they cost a fraction of premium models, making them a great middle-of-the-road option if you are trying to balance performance and price. The Ninja Never Clog costs a little more, but its overall performance is almost unmatched.

Juice Quality

Many of us look to making juice at home because we recognize that the economics of buying fresh bottled juices is simply not sustainable. While these products may not afford the same professional-grade results, at-home models will still produce a high-quality glass of juice. In testing juice quality, we use three different juice cocktails to rank and score the differences in the performance of each product. These three recipes combine various fruits and vegetables — up to six different types of produce in one juice blend — and thus offer a broad spectrum of juices to better gauge aspects of overall juice quality. We use a panel of testers to taste and score each drink and ask them to comment on things like taste, texture, thickness, temperature, and any other characteristics that they feel contribute to or detract from overall juice quality.

Our beet blend included apples, carrots, celery, cucumber, ginger root, and, of course, plenty of beets. Our goal was to find a juicer that subtly incorporated the beets without tasting too earthy. The Ninja Never Clog Cold Press did the best at this. One of our taste testers noted, “The juice has a great taste that isn't only focused on the beets.” It had a notably smooth, uniform, and velvety texture after being strained. The Breville Juice Fountain Plus also impressed us with its beet blend. It produced a pomegranate-colored juice that was not bitter whatsoever.

Romaine Blend

A key ingredient in this recipe was romaine. However, it also incorporates apples, peeled oranges, cucumber, and celery. We aimed to find a blend that was smooth, not too foamy, and had an even taste among ingredients. The Nutribullet Pro and Cuisinart CJE-1000 did this the best. They were both light and refreshing, producing little to no pulp. The Breville Juice Fountain also excelled here with juice that “had the most flavorful taste of all,” as one of our testers explained.

Sunset Blend

The sunset blend focuses on starchy ingredients like sweet potatoes and carrots. However, it throws in apples, beets, and oranges for a refreshing flavor profile. We wanted all the health benefits from the sweet potatoes, but we didn't necessarily want to be overpowered by their flavor, and we wanted a smooth and creamy texture. The Ninja Never Clog achieved this the most. The juice didn't have any grit or sandy aspect to the consistency, as many did. One of our taste testers said, “Lots of apple flavor as well as a hint of beet, carrot, and sweet potato. It isn't overwhelmingly earthy or rooty.” We were also impressed with the juice from the Kuvings Whole Slow Elite. After being strained, the fluid was smooth, silky, and had a fresh taste. A tester noted, "This juice is something you could drink for pleasure, rather than just trying to be healthy."

Our team of testers tested every concoction that came out of these juicers, noting various qualities like taste and consistency.

Some models do it all, excelling across the board. This was our experience with the Ninja Never Clog Cold Press. All three recipes were no match for the Ninja. All recipes had a smooth, consistent, and refreshing texture. When following the recipe, no one ingredient was overpowering. Some machines did better with specific recipes, like the Kuvings, which produced high-quality romaine and sunset blends. However, fell short with the beet blend, giving us an overpowering earthy taste.

The Magic Bullet Mini Juicer produced the most yield in terms of volume. It did an excellent job with soft and hard produce. However, it had one of the weakest leafy green yields of the bunch. The NutriBullet Juicer Pro had a very similar performance, with slightly less overall output. If you are particularly interested in leafy greens, or a machine that can do it all, the Ninja Never Clog Cold Press is an excellent choice. It had the largest leafy green output at 191.6 millileters and is particularly versatile because of its ability to effectively juice different types of produce. Our judges all agreed that this appliance makes excellent juice cocktails that are smooth and incredibly rich in flavor, with little to no pulp. The blends from this model are denser, topped with small amounts of foam, are properly saturated, and don't easily separate — all characteristics of an ideal juice.

Soft Produce Juicing

Although everything ultimately comes down to overall juice quality, each type of produce you include in your juice blends can affect the outcome of the finished product. We consider soft produce to be anything with a high water content — for our tests, we used a variety of fruits and vegetables, including apples, oranges, cucumbers, and celery. Our main concern with the individual types of produce was juice yield; how much produce do you need to process to get a reasonable amount of juice. But we also examined the amount of pulp, the rate of separation, the appropriateness of color, and the amount of foam. All of these factors relate directly back to juice quality.

We rated each cup of juice on a 1-10 scale, focusing on taste, texture, consistency, and foaminess. Those with higher scores had higher quality juice output.

The NutriBullet Pro did well with all soft produce we threw at it, consistently giving us smooth and refreshing juices. The Kuvings Whole Slow and Cuisinart Easy Clean both create excellent apple juice that had a golden color and crisp taste. The Ninja Never Clog had the best orange juice of the bunch, which our testers noted was “light and refreshing.” It also excelled with apples but was about average at juicing celery and cucumbers.

Some machines excel with certain products but fail to handle other types. For example, the Tribest Slowstar excelled with celery juice production and quality but failed to give us fresh apple and cucumber juice. The Magic Bullet Mini Did well with cucumbers, celery, and oranges, but fell short with apples.

Along with juice quality is juice quantity. Some of these gave us excellent juice, but hardly any of it. Others juiced away but gave us poor results. The Kuvings Whole Slow Elite C7000S, Breville Juice Fountain Elite, and NutriBulleti Pro all deliver excellent soft produce yields. They especially excel in apple, celery, and orange juice yields. Each of these also were top performers for juice quality.

Not much beats a fresh glass of orange or apple juice in the morning. We tested the OJ capabilities of each model by inserting 10 ounces of fresh orange — roughly two medium-sized oranges without the peel. Then, we measured the output in millimeters. The Ninja Never Clog gave us the most orange juice, at 201.1 milliliters, or 6.8 ounces. The juice was of high quality, tasting sweet and light. The Magic Bullet Mini followed closely behind, with 195.2 milliliters of output, or 6.6 ounces. The Magic Bullets juice had a decent amount of pulp, so after straining, we lost some volume.

For apple juice, we started with 10 ounces of cut apple. The Hurom H-AA output 175 milliliters of orange juice and 275 milliliters of apple juice. That is the most apple juice any machine gave us, and it was of the highest quality. However, the Hurom had whole orange slices that got stuck in the machine, which required some effort to get it removed.

Hard Produce Juicing

Hard produce like carrots, beets, and sweet potatoes can be a true test of power and durability. Even broken up, these harder types of produce can batter a juicing chamber from the inside, putting the quality of components to the test. Only models with strong motors can provide the power necessary to efficiently and effectively juice this type of produce. These more fibrous vegetables can stress the limits of filters and pulp containers. Again, we grade each appliance on the overall juice yield and the key aspects of juice quality. Some of these products struggled in these assessments, resulting in a much larger spread of scores.

The scores represent a 1-10 score, with 10 being the best. We rated each juice based on texture, consistency, taste, foaminess, and more.

The Breville Juice Fountain Elite had a great performance in this metric, with high-quality juice and large yields across all hard produce. Competitive with the Breville is the more price-point-friendly centrifugal Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Premium. This juicer has an 850-watt motor and is worth the extra expense over the standard model if you plan to juice hard produce regularly. This model excels at processing carrots but does well with beets and sweet potatoes as well. The Magic Bullet Mini also did really well in this category and made some of the best sweet potato juice we've ever tried.

The biggest downside to these inexpensive centrifugal models is that they are often overwhelmed by the pulp of fibrous veggies, resulting in thicker juices with mild to moderate amounts of pulp. Despite the question of pulp, we recommend a centrifugal rather than a masticating model if you plan on making beet and carrot juice.

The Magic Bullet Mini really pulled its own weight here and was able to compete with the big juicers in terms of juice yield. It output the most sweet potato juice of the bunch with 227 milliliters. The Breville Juice Fountain Plus is a stellar centrifugal hard-produce juicer. With its wide chute, you won't have to cut your sweet potatoes more than once before juicing, and across the board it gave us large amounts of excellent juice. Though it didn't excel with carrots, the Hamilton Beach 67601A had the largest output for beets of the bunch, with 190 milliliters of excellently crafted juice.

Leafy Greens Juicing

Next, we looked at what may be considered the most difficult task: juicing leafy greens. Many models are simply incapable of extracting juice from this type of produce. As a result, this metric also includes a wide range of scores, with some appliances handling herbage with ease while others severely struggle. Just like the tests for juicing hard and soft produce, we conducted a trio of tests with each product — using spinach, kale, and wheatgrass to gauge performance — scoring their yields as well as juice quality.

We juiced wheat grass, kale, and spinach and rated each on a scale from 1-10 based on the taste, consistency, foaminess, and texture.

The Ninja Never Clog is the best across the board. It scored a perfect 10 for our wheatgrass taste test, with a deep green color, minimal foam, and smooth texture. Its performance for kale and spinach followed closely behind. Though it isn't the absolute best for either kale or spinach, it still does great, and it was the only juicer to excel at all three types of leafy greens.

The Kuvings Whole Slow Elite also did great here. This masticating model produces an impressive yield from kale that had great quality. However, it didn't do as well with producing quality spinach juice, though it made a lot of it.The dark horse Hurom Slow Juicer makes a strong showing, successfully juicing all wheat grass and kale, albeit with significantly more foam. While juicing leafy greens is certainly a specialty of masticating models, not all are effective — or efficient — at doing so.

If you are after spinach juice and not much else, the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Premium did the best with spinach out of all machines in the lineup, giving us a lot of juice that was high quality. However, you shouldn't expect the same results for other greens.

The Ninja Never Clog gave us the most amount of wheat grass juice at 26.6 milliliters. Not only that, but the juice was very high quality. It also put out great amounts for kale and spinach, at 52 and 113 milliliters, respectively. Again, this juice was still of good quality. Centrifugal models tend to struggle in this department — often gnashing greens into a pulpy, frothy mess instead of squeezing out the juice. Given the reputation of centrifugal devices, we were impressed with the average yields from the affordable Hamilton Beach Big Mouth. Many of these juicers failed to give us any wheat grass at all. Some, like the Breville only spit out 0.9 milliliters. While others managed to give five to 10 milliliters.

Cleaning

As we have expressed before, everything that gets cooked — or in this case, juiced — must eventually be cleaned. Particularly when it comes to these machines, the process of disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly can be time-consuming and, in some cases, quite annoying. We made a lot of juice over our testing period and, therefore, spent a lot of time cleaning these machines. Our experience helps us evaluate the effort it takes to clean the individual components and the effectiveness of the cleaning tool (if one is even included.) As you may imagine, we award bonus points to those dishwasher-safe products.

The NutriBullet Pro and Magic Bullet Mini have components that are dishwasher friendly. The Pro, in particular, is also easy to hand wash. Both the Mini and the Pro include effective cleaning brushes, and they break down in a way that is intuitive enough to make putting it all back together easy. The Mini scored worse on the cleanliness score in part because it leaked slightly and because it was prone to splattering, which can make quite a mess of your counters.

Cleaning the Magic Bullet Min can be a bit of a pain, but we like the included scrubby brush.

Most of these products, except the NutriBullet have filters that are easy to clean as long as you get to them right away and don't allow the pulp to dry in place.

Several other juicers come in behind the NutriBullet for their cleaning ease. Namely, these are the Breville models as well as the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Premium. All of these models are dishwasher safe and come with reliable cleaning tools to access their various components. However, it is the simplicity of the NutriBullet that makes it by far the most straightforward model to clean.

This model combines the juice centrifuge and pulp container into a single unit, making for an easy transfer to the sink without spilling and an even more simplified cleaning process. The Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Premium includes a brush specially designed to fit the filter, making this model easier to handwash than others. The Ninja Never Clog ranked in the middle of the pack, but still did well in this test. It has a lot of parts that must be disassembled for cleaning, but after a couple tries we found it very easy to do.

How to Pick the Best Juicer for You

Centrifugal vs Masticating

Juicers come in two styles - masticating and centrifugal. Each have their own benefits and downsides. A centrifugal juicer uses the spinning force to pulverize and juice the produce. These types tend to do very well with soft and hard produce, but struggle with leafy greens. This was true in our testing of the Magic Bullet Mini and NutriBullet Juicer Pro. The large size of the latter paired with the centrifugal design meant it literally had a yield of zero on the wheatgrass.

The NutriBullet Pro is a centrifugal juicer and one of our favorites in our testing.
Credit: Natalie Kafader

Masticating style juicers tend to do better with leafy greens, while still offering solid performance with soft and hard produce. This was true of the Ninja Cold Press which had excellent wheatgrass yields and very good performance overall. This style can be prone to squealing and being somewhat noisy as they pulverize and juice.

What Do You Juice?

The big question related to the above is, what kind of juice do you want to make? Are you buying this so you can enjoy a daily wheatgrass shot? If so, you should go with a masticating style. Alternatively, if you despise green juice and plan to stick to other produce a centrifugal will serve you very well.
